The Firm’s real estate practice area includes commercial real estate matters such as the development of apartment and homeownership communities. In this regard, the Firm deals with legal issues related to land use, zoning, land acquisition, eminent domain, environmental issues, boundary and as-built surveys and subdivision issues. The Firm has extensive experience representing clients in property acquisition. The Firm actively prepares title work, structures purchase contracts, and performs closing for property acquisitions that are privately and publicly owned. Members of the Firm have also been involved in the acquisition of property by assisting clients in exercising their powers of eminent domain.

The Firm has represented several municipalities and municipal corporations with respect to purchase money financing, construction and permanent financing, tax exempt bonds and financing involving federal funds to various entities as a part of the financing used to provide affordable housing throughout North Carolina. The Firm has also represented private financial institutions as lender’s counsel on transactions involving low income housing tax credits, construction and permanent financing to private developers and several churches who were either refinancing existing debt or constructing a church campus.
